The closing ceremony, held on Sunday, November 21st, was attended by notable figures including ECU President Mr. Zurab Azmaiparashvili, ECU Honorary President Mr. Boris Kutin, President of the Slovenian Parliament Mr. Igor Zorcic, President of the Slovenian Chess Federation Mr. Milan Brglez, and distinguished guests representing event sponsors.
Following the intonation of the anthems of the Republic of Slovenia and the European Chess Union, ECU President Mr. Zurab Azmaiparashvili addressed all players, offering special congratulations to the winners and medalists.
Mr. Milan Brglez, President of the Slovenian Chess Federation, expressed satisfaction with the successful conclusion of the event. He extended warm regards to all attendees of the closing ceremony, participants, and winners, conveying the message “Gens una sumus” (We are one people).
Mr. Igor Zorcic, President of the Slovenian Parliament, congratulated the winners and expressed delight in Slovenia hosting the largest European team chess event.
In the competition, Russia secured victory over Poland with an absolute score of 18 match points, while Georgia triumphed over France, securing 15 match points.
Ukraine emerged victorious against Hungary with a final score of 3-1, earning 12 match points and vying for a medal.
Azerbaijan narrowly defeated the Netherlands with a score of 2.5-1.5, also earning 12 match points. Tiebreak criteria determined that Azerbaijan would take the bronze medal.

In a thrilling conclusion to the Open event, four teams – Armenia, Ukraine, France, and Azerbaijan – competed for the top spot in the last round. Ukraine clinched gold due to superior tiebreaks over France.
Ukraine decisively defeated Armenia 3-1, securing 14 match points. Firouzja Alireza’s victory over Mamedyarov Shakhriyar led France to second place with 12 match points.
Poland and Spain tied for bronze, both with 13 match points. However, Poland’s superior tiebreaks secured their place on the podium. Spain narrowly defeated the Netherlands but fell short of a medal due to lower tiebreaks.
