Special Competition Rules
- Draw Agreement Restriction:
- Players are only permitted to agree to a draw after Black has made 30 moves. Any agreement to a draw before this point is considered a violation of the rules. Players who break this rule will automatically forfeit the game, meaning they will be declared the loser regardless of the game’s current position.
- Punctuality Requirement:
- Any player who has not arrived at the chessboard within 15 minutes of the session’s scheduled start time will lose the game by default. This rule emphasizes the importance of punctuality and ensures the tournament runs on schedule.
- Team Captain Qualifications:
- All team captains must hold a valid FIDE trainer’s license. This requirement ensures that team captains are officially recognized and qualified to train and lead their teams according to international standards.
- Appeal Submission Fee:
- The fee for submitting an appeal is set at two hundred Euros (200 EUR). This fee must be paid when an appeal is lodged and is likely intended to discourage frivolous or unnecessary appeals.
- Appeal Committee Composition:
- The ECU (European Chess Union) will announce the chairman and two members of the Appeal Committee, as well as the Chief Arbiter and Deputy Arbiter of the competition, no later than October 10th, 2021. This advance notice allows participants to be aware of the officials who will be overseeing the competition.
- Additionally, two more members of the Appeal Committee will be elected by the team captains during the captains’ meeting. This election process ensures that the committee has representation from the participating teams.
- ECU Dress Code:
- The ECU Dress Code, as detailed in the ECU regulations, must be adhered to by all participants. Prohibited items include:
- Shorts
- Caps
- Slippers
- Sunglasses
- Hats (except for religious reasons) This dress code promotes a professional and respectful appearance during the competition.

- Regulatory Compliance:
- The ECU anti-cheating guidelines, the FIDE Code of Ethics, and the ECU Fair Play Code are in effect for all European Championships. These regulations are designed to ensure fairness, integrity, and ethical behavior throughout the competition.
- All players, arbiters, organizers, and participants are required to observe and follow these regulations diligently. Compliance with these rules helps maintain the integrity of the sport and ensures a fair competition for all involved.
