We extend our warm invitation to participate in the upcoming European Team Chess Championship. The tournament will employ the Swiss System across 9 rounds, offering a platform for intense competition and strategic play.
- Tournament Format: Participants will engage in 9 rounds of play, navigating the complexities of the Swiss System. This format ensures fair pairings and an equitable playing field for all competitors.
- Time Control: Players will have 90 minutes to execute their first 40 moves, followed by an additional 30 minutes for the remainder of the game. Each move will also benefit from a 30-second increment, starting from the initial move, to maintain momentum and prevent time pressure.
- Team Composition: Each member federation of the European Chess Union (ECU) has the opportunity to enter one team for the Open competition, consisting of four players and one reserve player. Additionally, federations may field one team for the Women’s competition, comprised of four female players and one reserve player. This structure allows for strategic team selection and tactical substitutions throughout the championship.
- Special Provision for Hosting Federation: The hosting federation possesses the potential to enter multiple teams in each competition section. However, such entries require approval from the ECU Board, ensuring equitable opportunities for all participants and maintaining the integrity of the tournament.
We eagerly anticipate your participation in this prestigious event, where skill, strategy, and sportsmanship converge on the chessboard. Join us for an exhilarating championship experience, filled with camaraderie and competitive fervor.
